ANIMALS

We can classify animals in different ways. 

                                           VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES

According to the internal structure of their bodies, there are two main groups of animals:   vertebrates and invertebrates. 

1. Vertebrates are animales with a skelleton (bones). 

Mammals,birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish are vertebrate animals.

2. Invertebrates are animales without  a skelleton. 

Molluscs, arthropods and worms, among others, are  invertebrate animals.

VIVIPAROUS AND OVIPAROUS According to how they are born, we classify animals into: viviparous and oviparous. Viviparous animals are born from their mother´s womb.  Oviparous animals are born from an egg.  Exercise 1 Exercise 2 Exercise 3 CARNIVORES, HERBIVORES AND OMNIVORES According to what they eat, we classify animals into: carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.  Carnivores are animals that only eat other animals.  Herbivores are animals that only eat plants.  Omnivores are animals that eat both other animals and plants.  Exercise 1 Exercise 2 Exercise 3 TERRESTRIAL, AQUATIC, AMPHIBIAN, AERIAL, AND ARBOREAL According to their habitat, we classify animals into: terrestrial, aquatic, amphibian, aerial, and arboreal.  -       Terrestrial: animals that live on land. Eg. Lions, cats, zebras… -       Aquatic: animals that live in water: Eg. Dolphins, fish, crabs... -       Aereal: spend most of their time in the air. Eg. Birds, bats, insects... -       Arboreal: spend most of their time on trees. Eg. Monkeys, koalas, chameleon... -       Amphibian: they live on land and in water. Eg. Toads, frogs, salamanders.. DOMESTIC AND WILD ANIMALS According to the relationship that animals have with humans, we classify them into:  wild and domestic.  1. Wild animals don´t live with people, they live in their natural habitat. They don´t have relationship with humans.  Lions, zebras, elephants and foxes are examples of wild animals.

2. Domestic animals live with people or on a farm. 

Sheep, cows, horses, dogs and cats are examples of domestic animal. 

People look after animals. 

Animals living at home with us are pets.
