A landscape is an area with different landforms.
A landform is a natural element, such as mountains, rivers or cliffs.
In Spain, we can distinguish: mountain landscape, flat landscape and coastal landscape.
A) MOUNTAIN LADSCAPE:
A mountain is an elevated landform.
A mountain has three different parts: the peak at the top, the slopes (sides of the mountain) and the foot at the bottom.
B) FLAT LANDSCAPE:
A plain is an area of flat land. Plains have big fields and hills (small elevations).
Sometimes, there are wide rivers in the plains and the water runs slowly as the land is flat.
The land around rivers is very fertile. There are often fields, farms and forests.
People live in villages, towns and cities on the planes. There are factories near towns and cities.
C) COASTAL LANDSCAPE:
The coast is the land that is in contact with the sea.
Cape: land into the sea. Gulf: large area of sea between two capes. Bay: small area of sea between two capes. Beach: flat area with sand next to the sea. Port: place where boats can park. Island: area of land completely surrounded by water. Archipelago: group of islands. |
We can also classify landscapes into: rural landscape and urban landscape.
1.- Rural landscape: most elements are natural (living and non- living).
2. Urban landscape: most elements are man- made.
